Weekly Update, Jan. 11, 2021

Greetz and welcome back, internet friend. I hope you dig this weekly update.

Politix

Not going to talk about it. Still furious about the terrorist attack last week that some refuse to acknowledge was part of an attempted coup. I believe that anyone who supported that insurrection in the House or Senate should not be seated, because I don’t think you should incite a riot that tried to kidnap and murder politicians and still be allowed to hold office. I guess I’m kind of old-school like that, but IDK?

For real, all joking aside. Historians are not going to look kindly on the people who enabled and sparked this violence. At least, this is my suspicion as an academically-trained historian.

Professional

Last week was training, nothing cool to report.

Black Lives Matter

Not much to say again this week, outside explicitly writing that Black Lives Matter and pointing out that if they tried what white supremacists did at the capital, they wouldn’t have gotten within a hundred feet, and everyone in the world knows it!

Personal

Last week I changed my DudeATMR TikTok to include history, politics, art, and even some personal stuff. I made a video where I show how I’m trying to teach my little puppy how to play fetch, and I also recorded a little music there as well.

I also made two videos with the most reach on the platform so far. One has over 2800 views and the other over 3200! That is pretty cool and even though I lost some followers, it’s because when I first started I was doing hype like follower trains to gain followers and I wasn’t really finding people that were interested in what I was doing. It also confirms what my wife told me, that I should talk about things that I am passionate about. Including history and music and stuff like that.

So, as some followers peel off, I know that more will come along. It’s also just such a cool platform to scroll, it’s a bit like watching TV or the Intergalactic Cable episodes of Rick and Morty. You get, at most, 59 seconds of one thing and then it is repeated or on to something else. I cannot think of any other place to get such a rapid fire mix of everything one might be interested in!

If you are hesitant to check out the platform, I would highly encourage you to check it out. I resisted for quite a while, but I am glad to have found it. Frankly, it makes all the other social media platforms feel boring. I rarely go on Twitter these days, because even the political rantings exist on TikTok as well!

Oh, we finally replaced our drier over the weekend. It died maybe a month and a half or so ago, and all of us are glad to have it replaced. I am worried about the dude who came in our house, but he was wearing a mask and we aired everything out. I’m still going to keep my fingers crossed!

Anyway, he did a good job and when it comes to replacing appliances in the future, I have a feeling he will be getting more of our business. He even hauled away the old drier, and he mentioned in his add that he cleans them, fixes them, and re-sells them. Quite an impressive one person operation!
